MYOPIC DISRESPECT

There's Something About Today's Politics

If you thought the last Congress was a "do nothing" Congress, you ain't seen nothing yet. The savage attack on the President comes via a letter to the Government of Iran, signed by 47 Republican Party (GOP) members in the U. S., Senate stating that the U. S. President can't be trusted to live up to any agreement on the Iranian nuclear program (if one is reached)! The level of disrespect shown by the letter is astounding! The letter is a partisan attempt by the Republicans to scuttle efforts by the United States and five other countries to agree on a plan that prevents Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. It explicitly implies that the Congress or a future president of the United States may overturn an Executive Agreement signed by the President. While the removal of current Congressional sanctions against Iran would require approval by the Senate, the President can negotiate Executive Agreements with other nations under his inherent powers.

A European negotiator said the six power group - the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China - was generally unified but voiced concern that the Obama administration was under pressure due to concerns the Republican-led Congress might wreck any agreement. Clearly, this letter disparages the office of the presidency and demonstrates the dysfunctional state of political discourse in the Congress. Now there is a letter from 367 members of the House of Representatives (piling on?) telling the President in essence that any Iranian nuclear agreement must "foreclose any pathway to a bomb" before they will lift sanctions against Tehran. Any pathway....like a "gift" from North Korea? When does the bombing begin? The fact is those signing the letter simply want to kill the deal, and if that harms the Presidency, so be it! There is something different about today's politics and the Republicans our way or the highway agenda that includes:

· First, repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA); the consequences be damned
· Second, deny/minimize any accomplishments by the Obama Administration
· Third, deny there is a need to fund plans to combat Climate Change
· Fourth, do not compromise with the President and the Democrats

Perhaps if they spell the word ..."R-E-S-P-E-C-T"... a few times, they will be able to show some for the Office (just a little bit)!

Regardless of whether the above statement means anything to you and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council p, it does address the essence of the possible danger many nations in the Middle East and the world fear about Iran having a nuclear weapon. The U. S. has worked with its allies to strike a nuclear deal between Iran lus Germany which will freeze Iran's nuclear program and greatly reduce the stockpile of enriched uranium.develop an agreement with the nation of it of Iran.

Republicans are united in their opposition to the deal.

"...the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat - "(2Pet.3:10,12). This is a perfect definition of nuclear bombs. The elements (uranium-plutonium etc.) will melt with a fervent heat of millions of degrees and both the atmosphere and the earth will be burned up."

At a time when the rise of radical Islamism is threatening the Middle East, improving relations with an important regional power like Iran, if such a thing is possible, is clearly in the strategic interests of the United States.

So, when the pollsters questioned people Accordingdifferently, asking whether there is solid evidence the Earth is getting warmer, 72 percent of people said it was, up from 57 percent in 2009. Only 25 percent said the Earth is not getting warmer, up from 11 percent in 2009.

Climate Change. Perhaps you know that the research has been going on for years. A long term, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research mission kicked off in 19---- to advance the understanding of the earth as a system and how it is changing. Atmospheric and Earth surface data is gathered by instruments mounted on polar-orbiting spacecraft.

The mission objectives include the utilization of a global data base to support definitive and conclusive studies of global change!

You can also throw the Press into this mess. They have not tried to educate the public on ExecutiveAgreements, or explained what would likely happen if an agreement is reached and the U. S. fails to uphold it. Such an outcome would almost certainly dissuade many, if not most nations from trying to work with the U. S. Government. That could be bad for a future GOP president. Do they care? What if no agreement is reached? (e.g., There doesn't appear to be any easy

answers!

One thing is for sure. The Press will continue its unending quest to obtain Hillary Clinton's e-mails -- that's suspect, not respect!

Can Congress Sing the Blues?

The U. S. Congress is in dire need of a time out to seriously work on passing needed legislation that gives the people reason to hope rather than reason to sing the blues (feel depressed). Yes, the blues is a mostly black thing, but you can find traces of its foot print in Rock and Roll, Hip Hop, and songs in the Top Forty. This Country and this Congress needs to find sufficient traces of good will to produce necessary legislation. Time is running out! They must act before the parade passes by and leaves the Country in the legislation ditch! The lyrics in the music the House hears says, “Cut Taxes” and “Kill Obama Care”: the lyrics the Senate hears say, “Raise Revenue” (taxes) and “The Minimum Wage”. The Country says, “Until Congress works things out, many of us will be singing the blues”!

From Wiley's point of view, the ACA problems reflect the political "divide” in the United States that:

· Drives the economic divide (income inequality) which in turn drives the racial and class "divides".

· Attempts to kill the ACA and similar programs vital to the middle class and those trying to enter the middle class (e.g., under the ACA medical care costs want bankrupt a family).

Leads to rigid new voter ID laws designed to make it difficult for minorities and other pro-democrat voters to vote in most of the states run by Republican Governors. It is worse than Jim Crow and the poll tax.

Many in the T-Party people don't see President Obama as someone capable of handling the responsibilities of the Presidency of the United States. They quite easily ignore the fact that he has WON 2 presidential elections. The level of disrespect for the Office with Obama in it is….astounding!
